Update
from March 16th:
Well this
has been a pretty look week. We have had a lot of doors closed in our faces and
people to busy to talk to us. Summertime is finally over so school has started
up and so we have not had much success. After many hours of walking and our
feet being so sore. Heavenly father brings is many tender mercies. We decided
to do some contacting in this new area for some old investigators that were
progressing. We came upon Veronica. She had talked a couple times with old Hermanas’
but has stopped when they left. So we decided to take a chance to talk with
her. She seem still really interested so hopefully we will be able to talk with
her again soon. Lately our investigators have been young girls who are like all
golden and ready to be baptized but cannot because their parents will not let
them. it is such a bummer because you can see the strong desires to know more.
So right now, we are trying to find more families to teach. All we can do right
now is keep enduring to the end. As my favorite president Gordon B. Hinckley
dad said " FORGET YOURSELF AND GO TO WORK" A lot of the times in
missions you have really bad weeks and feel so useless but we often forget we
are on the Lord´s time. It is not about you. It is about going out and doing
your best even when it is really hard. It is all the Lord ask and he will do
the rest.
IN other
words, Saturday and Sunday we had our district conference for our areas. Since
Eldorado church building id the main building (like stake center) we had all
the Hermanas’ from the cities Puerto Rico and IguazĂș. (yes that is where the
waterfalls are) They all spent the night in our tiny little pension. it was not
a good nights sleep, but i got to know my zone a little bit better. It was
still hard because most of them are Latinos and i can barely speak the language.
The conference was really good and there was a huge turn out. I was able to
understand a little of everything being said. President LaPierre gave a
wonderful talk as always. We were happy missionaries!

Update
from March 23rd:
Well it
has been a pretty interesting week. So my companion is a Sister training leader
and has to do divisions with all the Hermana´s in my zone. On Tuesday, I was
sent to Iguazu where the beautiful waterfalls are to do divisions with Hermana
Quispe. I was pretty nervous because she doesn´t speak any English and my Spanish
is still in progress. It went so great! Hermana Quispe is so kind and she is
from Cusco, Peru. I was able to get to know her. She is the only member out of
her family. I am sure it is not easy, but I definitely admire her for being so
strong and such a good example. We did not have much time in our day so we went
to visit some less actives and a recent convert named Manuel. It was so great
to see such a strong desire to want to learn more coming from him. I read a
little scripture to him and before I could finish it. He was already reciting
it to me and then explaining it.. I was truly amazing. I love this gospel so
much and how much it can just change one person in a short amount of time. I
know I have grown so much just being on my mission for 2 months. I can feel my
testimony growing stronger and stronger each day. Also I got to visit the tres
frontiers while in Iguazu. Its where Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil are all separated
by just a river. It was so cool to stand on the Argentina side and see just
across to Brazil and Paraguay. I even could see in the distance the big city
Cuidad de Este in Paraguay. I was so happy to experience that.
ON to the
second best thing that happened this week. We found an (almost) golden
investigator. He is so great and just wants to know the truth. He has been
searching for quite a while and he thinks he has found it. We had our very
first lesson with him last night. We talked a little bit about The Restoration.
He really liked it and wants to know more. So we set another date with
him next week. I may not always know what is happening in my lessons because of
the language barrier, but I know the Holy Ghost is always there. I can feel it
and I know he could too. I just love how God puts these kinds of people in our
paths. I know this church is true with all my heart. I know this gospel can
bring so much happiness. You just cannot deny it. I love you all!!
